Abstract

About 85% of the 1.7 million Australians living with diabetes have type 2 diabetes. Up to half of cases of type 2 diabetes are undiagnosed. Of those diagnosed, data suggest only about half reach guideline targets for glycaemic control (HbA1c <7% or 53 mmol/mol). This is a concern as poor glycaemic control is a well established risk factor for long-term complications.
