Croatian Achievements in Bridge Engineering

The paper gives a short historical overview of greatest bridges constructed on Croatian teritory since Roman times. Rich bridge engineering heritage includes bridges of world-record spans, introduction of innovative structural concepts and construction methods as well as some aesthetically most successful and pleasing bridges. More detailed account of major recent bridge engineering achievements is provided. Past decade was marked by extreme growth of bridge construction in Croatia, because of numerous post-war reconstructions and, above all, intensive motorway construction. Bridges of many different structural types have been competently designed and skillfully constructed often under very short deadlines.
