Critical analysis of the Cartesian model of dualism

Given dualism, this study would address questions as how is the mind related to the body? Is there a causal connection between mind and body? Can there be a ground for the dualistic supposition that mind survives the disintegration of body? If the mind is governed by the same laws that govern the body, does this lead to the determinism regarding which notions of freedom of will, choice, merit and responsibility become meaningless? The essay will also be dealing with the problems left by the Cartesian dualism such as the problem of the interaction between mind and body, the problem of the existence of the other minds and the problem of solipsism. The fundamental notions of cogito, interactionism and the existence of other minds will be analyzed and evaluated from the viewpoints of Ludwig Wittgenstein, Gilbert Ryle and John Searle.
