Causation and the Mind-Body Problem——and on the Difficult Position and Way out for Functionalism

Regarding the mind-body problem,the two most influential schools in contemporary philosophy of mind,nonreductive and reductive physicalism,share a point of view,i.e.,mind is dependent on body.There main basis for this viewpoint is the of causal closure of material world.Consequently,they also share a great flaw,i.e.,they are incapable of dealing with consciousness,which is the most important subject in philosophy of mind.Therefore,I propose the concept of Hume-Kant's causation,and thereby reexamine the principle of causal closure of material world and the mind-body problem.I accept Cartesian substantial dualism and further advance the methodological dualism of reduction-emergence.
