Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the reliability coefficient of identification results of yeast-like fungus fostered in different media by Rapid Yeast ID.Methods:Rapid Yeast ID plate was used to identify the fungus colony cultured in Sabouraud's dextrose medium, blood agar medium, routine nutrient agar medium and CHROMagar Candida medium, respectively, and the identification results were compared with those by traditional routine biochemistry. Results:The identification results of yeast-like fungus fostered in Sabouraud's dextrose medium by Rapid Yeast ID had coincidence of 97.3% with that by traditional biochemistry. However,in other media such as blood agar medium, routine nutrient agar medium and CHROMagar Candida medium, the corresponding rate was only 86.0% and the difference was very significant(P0.01).Conclusion:Rapid Yeast ID plate is the most suitable for identification of yeast-like fungus cultured in Sabouraud's dextrose medium, but it has lower reliability coefficient when it is used to identify those cultured in other media.
