Abstract

In order to increase value and reduce environmental loads of a product life cycle, it is important to design a lifecycle flow as well as designing product. For designing them, it is essential to compare design information of a product with that of lifecycle flow. The objective of this paper is to propose a consistency management system between product and lifecycle flow for lifecycle scenario-based product design. For this purpose, we propose a product model and a lifecycle flow model as a representational scheme and define the linkages between these two models. And we propose a consistency management method by defining two levels of consistency; namely, model consistency level, and requirement fulfillment level. A case study indicates that the relationship between the product model and the lifecycle flow model is successfully represented and a designer can design a product and its lifecycle flow in an integrated manner.
