The Australian Music Examinations Board and the University of Melbourne - the End of an Era

From January 1978, the Victorian College of the Arts became the Australian Music Examinations Board instead of the University of Melbourne. For seventy years, the University of Melbourne had been a partner in public examinations in music. The University of Melbourne decided to withdraw because a number of tertiary courses had sprung up in the State of Victoria, each specialising in different fields of study.
