Abstract
The urban surface public transit (USMT) of Moscow including buses, trolley cars and trams is one of the largest urban public transit systems in the world. At present time, the network of these types of transit involves 620 routes, 642.5 km long with more than 20,000 stopping points. On average, about 3,260 buses, 1,275 trolley cars and 640 trams are involved in daily passenger service. This article discusses the ways the system determines passenger trip volume.
