Abstract

Based on the development of urban transit and its characteristics, the author analyzes the effect of introducing urban transit lines into railway passenger stations. The passengers requiring transfer are divided into two groups. From the aspect of time length that passengers need to stay in stations, the positive and negative effects of number of passengers clustering in stations are analyzed, and the formula is given to show how the passenger flow waiting in stations is influenced. It is shown that the average time length of staying in stations is related to three factors, including the passenger flow that transfers to urban transit, the level of informationization of railway ticketing, and the service frequency on the station.
