Abstract
Uptake and dissipation of imidacloprid in okra was studied by treating the seeds with Gaucho @ 9 g a.i./kg seed and spraying okra crop at the fruiting stage with Confidor 200 SL at 0.3 and 0.6 ml/l. Imidacloprid was taken up by the plant from its seed treatment and the residues persisted in plant for more than 30 days after germination. However, residues could not be detected in fruits harvested at 50, 55 and S 60 da s after germination. Imidacloprid residues dissipated exponentially with time Y following foliar application with a half-life of 2-4 days in two consecutive seasons. The residues, however, became non-detectable l0 days after treatment at lower concentration and 15 days after treatment at higher concentration.
