Analysis of the Role of Music and the Purpose of Music Education

The purpose of this paper is doing analysis of the role of music and music education. With the method literature review and logic analysis, the paper concluded that music has important value and social function, pleasant mood, ease of mental tension, social education and so on is the basic function of music. The purpose of music teaching is finding the basic function of music, through the music teaching process, cultivating students' appreciation of music beauty, cultivating sentiment, etc. Music is one of the most important cultural products of human society, music is always accompanied with the development of human society. Music has a close relationship with our everyday life and social activities. It can be said that the world is full of music. There is no a society that has no music. Throughout human history, music has a close relationship with the development of society. Whether the chant to reduce the labor burden in physical activities of human early, or the various kinds of vocal music and instrument music that can be heard everywhere nowadays are all various forms of music. Music not only enrich people's life, but also bring positive influence to social progress. In this paper, the role or function of music and the purpose of Music Education would be discussed under this background.
