Abstract

In this paper, a coupled-fed LTE antenna design for tablet applications is proposed. Monopole antenna on the front side of the substrate is used to couple the antenna on the back side. The size of the antenna portion is 70 × 8 × 0.8 mm3, and the size of ground plane is 205 × 267 mm2. The antenna portion consists of a meandered monopole on the back side, a Pi-shaped monopole and a folded monopole on the front side. A meandered monopole on back side and Pi-shaped monopole are connected to the ground by via hole. The meandered monopole on the back side is coupled by the folded monopole fed by mini-coaxial line. The longest and second arms on the meandered monopole produce the modes at LTE700MHz band. The higher modes of the modes form the bandwidth at LTE2300/2500 MHz bands. The impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna fits the required bandwidth of 698 to 787MHz, 2.305 to 2.4GHz, and 2.5 to 2.69GHz when the bandwidth is defined as S11 below - 6dB. Antenna design and results will be discussed in this paper.
