Abstract

An ultra-wideband omnidirectional monopole antenna is presented in this article. The proposed antenna consists of a bevel folded section, a wrapped plate at the left and right parts, and top-loaded and truncated conical ground-plane. The antenna exhibits a very wide impedance bandwidth from 3.1 to 32 GHz (S 11 < −10 dB). The antenna's main beam position is virtually frequency independent. The length of the proposed monopole element above the ground is less than 0.13λ, and the ground height is 0.09λ at the lowest frequency of the antenna's operational bandwidth. Results of the voltage standing wave ratio, gain, and radiation pattern of the antenna are presented and discussed.
