Abstract

This report describes a method for measuring the volume of a Zerodur sphere of nominal mass 1 kg by making comparison hydrostatic weighings with two calibrated volume reference standards of similar nominal mass manufactured from Zerodur and silica respectively. The result obtained was in good agreement with a values previously determined by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) and a UKAS accredited UK Laboratory.
