Abstract
The contemporary manufacturing engineering is a organic whole to take manufacturing science as basal, from manufacturing mode and manufacturing technology composing of, carrying on process to handle to manufacturing resources and manufacturing information. In order to fully bring into play the effects manufacturing technology, according to the contemporary manufacturing engineering the characteristics of whole process, big scope and high technology, re-know the connotation of the manufacturing engineering and manufacturing science. The concept and the essence of the manufacturing system were discussed. According to the inside regulation that the manufacturing system evolve and cross character of technology and management in modern manufacturing enterprise, with three layers of "manufacturing system-manufacturing mode-manufacturing technology", give the new model of the research "Advanced Manufacturing System". Manufacturing system, manufacturing mode and manufacturing technology were strictly defined, and three relations were analysed. Manufacturing technology is the method that manufacturing system carry out the products. Manufacturing mode is the road that manufacturing system efficiently deal in operation; manufacturing mode is the foundation of the establishment manufacturing system, Manufacturing system is a physics realization of manufacturing mode. Manufacturing technology is a foundation that becomes manufacturing mode, manufacturing mode is an essential condition of using manufacturing technology. The new model of advanced manufacturing system now be used to contents system of the published new textbook "Advanced Manufacturing System" of Chinese industry engineering profession.
