Abstract

Rofecoxib being a selective cyclooygenase-2 inhibitor has been banned as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. This has opened new opportunities in the field of research and development of non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. In this search, pharmacophores for anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity based on aryl-(imidazol-l-yl) acetates have been identified.
