Abstract

Objective:To explore the diagnostic value of CT-guided percutaneous biopsy for chest tumor. Methods:This study retrospectively analyzed the clinical data from 40 patients with chest tumor confirmed by chest X-ray examination and enhanced CT scan from June 2007 to May 2008.All the recruited patients underwent CT-guided percutaneous biopsy followed by pathological examinations. The patients were dynamically examined and treated and followed up.The accuracy of CT-guided percutaneous biopsy for the diagnosis of chest tumor was analyzed. Results:The diagnosis of CT-guided percutaneous biopsy was consistant with the therapeutic and follow-up results in 38 cases out of the 40 patients. The accuracy of one time percutaneous biopsy reached 95%(38/40).Among them 26 cases(68.42%) had malignant tumor;12 cases(31.58%) who were doubted as chest tumor before surgery had benign lesions;two cases were diagnosed as having inflammatory disease but dynamic clinical examination and follow-up study verified that they were malignant tumor. The main complication induced by CT-guided percutaneous biopsy was pneumothorax, which occurred in 8 cases(20%,8/40).All were slight pneumothorax and can be absorbed by themselves. Conclusion:The CT-guided percutaneous needle biopsy is a simple and safe diagnostic method with small injury and high accuracy, which has a high value in guidance of clinical diagnosis and therapy and is worthy of extending its clinical application.
