The use of zinc anodes having superior character is the simplest and the most effective method for the cathodic protection of ship hulls. In order to find excellent zinc anode materials, we carried out some experiments using various zinc anodes containing several kinds of elements. From the experiments, it was found that the performance of zinc alloy anodes containing Hg, Cd or Al exceed far that of other zinc anodes which contain Mg, Mn, Te, Ge or K etc.
