Abstract

L-phenylalanine ammonia-lyase activity and content of free phenylalanine and valine during low temperature acclimatization in soybean roots were investigated. Treatment of the soybean roots cultivated in chilling with PAL inhibitor, 2-aminoindan-2-phosphonic acid (AIP) resulted superinduction of PAL activity and increased in the content of phenylalanine indicating the blocking of the feedback regulation mechanism. These results indicate that AIP inhibited PAL in vivo. The compound dramatically decreased of valine in chill-treated soybean roots. Decreased in valine leaves may suggest that this compound disturb other physiological processes during acclimation soybean roots to low temperature
