7. Judicial Reform and Development in 2006

In 2006 China made new progress in the criminal litigation field in the following aspects: The first was in the legal construction of criminal litigation and the second was in criminal law enforcement practices for public security organizations, the people?s procuratorates and the people?s courts. 2006 still saw a high occurrence rate of criminal cases; however, the whole country also experienced a stable public order. In some regions, the rate of discovered criminal cases declined sharply. This chapter outlines an overview of the criminal offense situation. Execution is the last stage of civil litigation and is also a key stage for judgments to be put into effect. The chapter discusses the stipulations that should be made to improve the law in order to address the difficulties of execution.
