Does Perception Have Content?

Abstract This book addresses fundamental questions about the nature of perceptual content. The primarily focus of the volume is on the question of whether perception has content. This question has exerted a considerable hold on contemporary philosophers of mind in recent years and has prompted a number of further questions, including: What does it mean to say that perceptual experience has content? Does perceptual content derive from the content of beliefs or judgments? Is perception fundamentally characterized by its relational properties or its representational properties? What do defenders and opponents of representational views disagree about? Can perception have intentionality if it does not have content?
