Abstract

SNMP is one of the standard tools provided for administrators of Internet-based networks. It provides the framework for administrators to check, interrogate and modify settings on a computer network. Essentially, the network is viewed as a series of “agents” that report events to a central management console. These “agents” can be computers, printers, routers or any of the other pieces of hardware that make up a networked system.
