SNMP and Its Application in Network Management

Abstract

The network management system consists of network management station, the management agent, the management info database, and the network management protocol. the simple network management protocol (SNMP) includes the structure of management information (SMI), the management info database (MIB) and SNMP. The network management system based on SNMP is constructed with 3Com Transcend NCS and the Sun Net Manager. Bottom layer is Smart Agent, middle layer is Sun Net Manager aiming at Windows and SNMP, and top layer is Transcend application.
