Re-anastomosis of the vas deferens.

Abstract

The operative technique for reconnecting the vas deferens after it has been severed for contraceptive purposes by a vasectomy is described. Of the 17 cases that the author has operated on the average age of the patients was 37.8 and the average number of years between the vasectomy and reanastomosis was 5.8. Sperm reappeared in the semen of 14 of the cases and 9 resulted in pregnancies. It is concluded that if the medical profession realizes that vasectomies can be corrected more males will be encouraged to accept the sterilization operation.
