Abstract
Neural networks are used in business organizations for providing intelligent decision support. The ABI/Inform bibliographic database has over 1 000 publications on business-related research in neural networks. Historical trends in this area are examined by a bibliometric analysis of this research. Distributions by management function, by industries & markets, by business environment and by keywords are presented and insights into future research possibilities are drawn. Further, this corpus of literature is analyzed by using the co-word bibliometric methodology to assess the state- of-the-art in this research area. Several research themes are identified. Based on the analysis, suggestions for future research are outlined.
