Relative performance of Kabuli chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) genotypes under different plant densities and fertility levels

Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at the research farm of R.A.K. College of Agriculture , Sehore (M.P.) to find out the relative performance of Kabuli chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) genotypes under different plant densities and fertility levels. Genotype phule G 95333 recorded significantly higher growth and yield attributes, seed and straw yield than genotype phule G 0515.33 Plants/m2 showed that significantly higher plant height, number of branches/plant and number of effective root nodules /plant along with seed and straw yield however number of pods/plant and seed index (100 seed weight) were higher with 22 plants/m2.. As regards the effect of higher fertility levels (30N + 60P2O5 + 30K2O + 20S kg/ha ) produced significantly higher values of growth and yield attributes, seed and straw yield over lower fertility levels (20N + 40P2O5 + 20 K2O+20S kg/ha).
