Abstract
Social and affordable housing, especially in areas close to transport, employment clusters and services, provide crucial housing options for the most vulnerable people in the community. The Eastern Affordable Housing Alliance (EAHA) comprising the seven Councils in Melbourne's Eastern Metropolitan Region (EMR): Boroondara, Knox, Manningham, Maroondah, Monash, Whitehorse and Yarra Ranges, was established in 2010 in response to diminishing investment in social housing in the region by the State and Federal Governments.
