Abstract

The growth and development of the community housing sector is critical to boosting the stock of social and affordable housing in Western Australia (WA) and achieving greater sustainability of the social housing system. The WA Government's Affordable Housing Strategy 2010-2020 Opening Doors to Affordable Housing recognises the importance of community housing providers (CHPs). While it aims to double the number of homes under management by the sector from 5,500 in 2009 to 12,000 in 2020 (WA Government, 2010, pp.48-9), it has lacked a detailed plan to guide the growth and development of the sector.
