Clinical study of Montelukast combined with Loratadine on children suffered from cough variability asthma

Objective To observe the therapeutic efficacy of Montelukast combined with Loratadine on children suffered from cough variability asthma.MethodSixty-four children with cough variability asthma were randomly divided into two groups, children in control group(n =32) received Terbutaline sulphate and Ketotifen famarate oral-ly;while children in observation group(n =32) were treated with Montelukast and Loratadine orally.Treatment peroid in both groups 8 weeks, follow-up was conducted in 6 months after treatment.Result Effective rates were 93.7% in observation group and 59.3% in control group, respectively,the former was significantly higher than the latter(P 0.05).Recurrence rate in observation group was 6.2%(2/32), which was significantly lower than 34.3%(11/32) in control group(P 0.05).Conclusions The findings indicate that Montelukast combined with Loratadine is safe and effective for children suffered from cough variability asthma.
