The clinical significance of serum alpha2-Heremans Schmid glycoprotein in chronic severe hepatitis patients

Abstract

Objective To investigate the relation of serum alpha2-Heremans Schmid glycoprotein(AHSG) level with the severity of liver damage,prognosis and tumor necrotic factor-α(TNF-α) in chronic severe hepatitis patients.Methods Three groups were observed,including healthy control group,chronic hepatitis group and chronic severe hepatitis group,the chronic severe hepatitis group was subdivided into two groups based on whether the patients recovered.Serum AHSG,TNF-α,prothrombin activity(PTA),serum albumin and total bilirubin were detected,comparison and correlation analysis was made.Results Serum AHSG level was(114.02±89.11)μg/mL in chronic severe hepatitis patients,which was significantly lower than that in the people of healthy control group(317.75±107.84)μg/mL and chronic hepatitis group(253.14±206.45)μg/mL(P0.01).Among the chronic severe hepatitis patients,unrecovered patients had lower serum AHSG level(82.53±47.90)μg/mL than recovered patients(203.05±112.94)μg/mL(P0.01);In chronic severe hepatitis group,serum AHSG level was positively correlated with PTA and serum albumin level(Rho was 0.493 and 0.420 respectively,poth P0.01),but negative correlation was shown between serum AHSG level and TNF-α and total bilirubin(Rho was-0.378 and-0.463 respectively,both P0.01).Conclusion Serum AHSG level is an important index which can reflect the severity of liver damage in chronic severe hepatitis patients,low serum AHSG level suggests the poor clinical prognosis.
