Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression and significance of detecting cytokeratin 19(CK19),galectin-3,HBME-1 in the diagnosis of papillary thyroid carcinoma(PTC).MethodsImmunohistochemical staining was performed in 44 PTC samples,27 nodular goiter with papillary hyperplasia samples(NGWPH) and 40 follicular adenoma with papillary hyperplasia samples(FAWPH).Results The expressions of CK19,galectin-3 and HBME-1 were 100%,97.7% and 95.5% in PTC,which were higher than 11.1%,7.4% and 3.7% in NGWPH and 12.5%,2.5% and 10.0% in FAWPH,respectively(P0.01).The expression rate of one case with two or more positive markers in PTC was 97.7%,which was higher than 11.1% in NGWPH and 7.5% in FAWPH(P0.01).Conclusion Detecting the expressions of CK19,galectin-3 and HBME-1,especially combined examinations,is valuable in differential diagnosis of thyroid lesions.
