Abstract

Objective Transcatheter ultra selective bilateral iliac arterial chemoembolization were performed in patients with advanced or recurrent plevic malignant tumors. Methods Transcatheter bilateral iliac arterial chemoembolization using lipiodol, gelfoam fragment and HD DDP were performed in 67 patients with advanced or recurrent pelvic malignant tumors. Results Complete response and partial response to the therapy were observed in 17 and 48 patients respectively. The 6 month, 12 month,24 month survival rate were 100%(67/67),74.6%(50/67),55.2%(37/67) respectively. No severe complications occurred after lipiodol and gelfoam embolization and HD DDP chemotherapy. Conclusions Transcatheter ultra selective bilateral iliac arterial chemoembolization using lipiodol, gelfoam fragment and HD DDP can be regarded as a safe and effective method for advanced or recurrent pelvic malignant tumors.
