The Treatment Of Earlier Recurrent Fungal Corneal Ulcer After Corneal Transplantation

Objective:To investigate the clinical manifestation of earlier recurrence fungal corneal ulcer after corneal transplantation and the corresponding treatment. Methods:9 cases of earlier recurrence fungal corneal ulcer after keratoplasty(KP)were retrospectively analyzed on the clinical manifestation,the relation to operate procedure,ulcer shape,re-treatment and outcome. Results:The average earlier recurrence rate was 11.5%(9/78),in which 12.2%(5/21)with lamellar KP and 10.8%(4/37)with penetrating KP.The mean recurring time was 6.89 days.The ulcer that was large,deep or out of center tended to recur.According to various status,irrigation for hypopyon conjunctival flap transplantation or PKP could be performed. Conclusions:The recurrence was aptest to occur about a week after the corneal transplantation for fungal corneal ulcer.The recurrence was related to the ulcer shape and the correct treatment could save some cases.
