Abstract

This article tries to clarify the relationship between Jieyu Jiedai in Chinese and Metonymy,Antonomasia Synecdoche in English through comparison and contrast.That is,Metonymy is not equal to Chinese Jieyu but Jiedai only in the rhetorical aspect.Both Antonomasia and Synecdoche are just parts of Metonymy.
