Abstract

English Metonymy includes various ways. It can be mainly summarized as follows: the container or tool for its content or idea, the person's name for the thing, the concrete for the abstract, the place for the thing. Synecdoche is a rhetoric means of English Metonymy. It has two ways. If English Metonymy is used properly, it can make language more interesting, vivid,concise. An author can also express his strong feelings by using Metonymy.
