Abstract
The stability of aqueous α-Al_2O_3 suspensions with polyacrylic acid was studied as a function of temperature. The results show the PAA amount needed to stabilize the suspensions increased as temperature enhanced. As the amount of dispersant addition was lower than the optimal dispersant content at a given temperature, increasing temperature would result in the viscosity of suspensions increase and lead to instability. But as sufficient amount of PAA was added, the viscosity dropped dramatically for the suspensions of the higher solids loading.
