Induced expression characterization of BcMPK4 from Brassica campestris ssp. chinensis Makino

Abstract

In the study,using real-time quantitative PCR,the article analyzed BcMPK4 expression changes in Brassica campestris ssp.chinensis Makino resistant and susceptible varieties after treatment with Sclerotinia sclerotiorum,the chemicals oxalic acid(OA),salicylic acid(SA),methyl jasmonate(MeJA),or abscisic acid(ABA),respectively.The results showed that BcMPK4 was inducible in the resistant varieties 003-R-6,but consistently suppressed in the susceptible varieties 003-S-7 after inoculation with Sclerotinia sclerotiorum and oxalic acid.Trends of the gene expression changes in the resistant varieties after treatment with Sclerotinia sclerotiorum and oxalic acid were consistent.BcMPK4 expression was promptly activated by salicylic acid and suppressed by methyl jasmonate but did not respond to abscisic acid.These results suggest a role for BcMPK4 in Sclerotinia sclerotiorum-induced and SA-regulated defense signalling pathway in Brassica campestris ssp.chinensis Makino.
