Abstract

Objective:To investigate the association of angiographic characteristics of coronary lesion with the left ventricular functions. Method:Seventy-nine patients with coronary artery disease undergoing coronary angiography and left ventriculography were divided into different groups respectively according to the number of diseased vessels, coronary score and the presence or absence of coronary collaterals in total or nearly total coronary occlusion. The differences of left ventricular ejection fraction ( LVEF), left ventricular wall motion score (LVMS), left ventricular end-diastolic pressure (LVEDP) and maximum diastolic pressure in the left ventricle (LVMDP) were detected among groups. Result:There are most impaired left ventricle functions in three-vessel disease group and next in two-vessel disease group as compared with the normal control, and it is just LVEDP that was increased markedly in one-vessel disease group. When the differences of left ventricular functions were compared based on the coronary score, the same observations were revealed in high-value group and middle-value group as it did in three-vessel disease group and two-vessel disease group, but the changes were not significant between low-value group and normal control. In patients with total and nearly total coronary occlusion, the impairment of left ventricle functions was much more severe in collateral group than in non-collateral group. Conclusion:The left ventricle functions are closely associated with the severity of coronary lesion in patients with coronary artery disease.
