Abstract
Aim:To investigate the expression of PTEN and Fas protein in cutaneous basal cell carcinoma(BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma(SCC) tissue. Methods:The expressions of PTEN and Fas protein were detected in 23 cases of BCC, 25 cases of SCC and 10 cases of normal skin tissue using immunohistochemistry. Results: In BCC and SCC tissue, the positive rate of PTEN protein was 26.1% and 20.0%, significantly lower than that in normal skin(90.0%,P0.05).In BCC and SCC tissue, the positive rate of Fas protein was 13.0% and 8.0%,significantly lower than that in normal skin(60%,P0.05).In BCC and SCC tissue,PTEN expression was related with Fas expression (P0.05).Conclusion: The abnormal low expression of PTEN and Fas may contribute to the pathogenesis and progression of BCC and SCC, and may be used as one of indexes in the diagnosis and treatment of BCC and SCC.
