Quality Assessment of Rhizoma Coptidis from Different Areas

Objective To evaluate the qualities of Rhizoma Coptidis from different areas.MethodsThe content of berberine hydrochloride in Rhizoma Coptidis was determined with HPLC.The HPLC was performed on a diamonsil C18(4.6 mm×250 nm,5 μm)column,the mobile phase was acetonitrile-0.1% phosphoric acid solution(50:50),and the detection wavelength was 265 nm.Results The berberine hydrochloride showed good linearity over the range of 0.25～4.0 μg(r=0.9999),the average recovery was 98.7%,RSD=0.34%,the contents of berberine hydrochloride were 5.8%～8.6% in 8 samples.Conclusion The contents of berberine hydrochloride in Rhizoma Coptidis have difference from different areas,and all meet the requirements in Chinese Pharmacopoeia.
