Abstract

Idion is the crystal of language development and is used by the speakers in the long time. Its form is simple but the meaning is incisive. English is one of the languages with plentiful words.And its idioms are colorful and meaningful. Idiom is one important way of rhetoric. While metaphor and metonymy are the common rhetoric. Most of the idioms conclude proper metaphor and metonymy. This article aims to understand the usage of the metaphor and metonymy in English deeply by analysing some of the English idioms.
