The Formation and Breakdown of the Strategy of the Japanese Troops to Assault China on the Second Battle Line

Some terrain maps of Yunnan made by the Japanese troops invading China were found in Qujing in 2003 and 2004 and in Kunming in 2006.These maps evidenced the strategy of Japanese troops to assault China on the second battle line.According to the strategy,the Japanese military,after occupying west Yunnan in May,1942,would take advantage of the situation and push forward.They schemed to attack the central and northeast areas of Yunnan by way of which they would occupy Chongqing and Chengdu.However,this strategy aborted as the consequence of the lack of army,the failure in the Pacific War,and so on,which accordingly accelerated the downfall of the Japanese militarism and the victory of the Anti-Japanese War by the Chinese people.
