Abstract

With the village Banqiao of Caohai Township in Heqing County of Dali Yunnan as an example,the paper makes an analysis of the relationship between Bai people's village god worship and dragon boat race.The result shows that this village's tradition of dragon-boat race originates from the local village-god worship activities and that the worship as such is closely tied with the rise and evolution of the dragon boat race.This is very important in exploring the relationship between the individual event of traditional sports and the native religious worship.
