Histopathological and immunophenotypic analysis of orbital small B-cell lymphoma

Abstract

Objective To study the histopathologic classification,morphologic and immunohischemical features of ocular orbital small B-cell lymphoma.Methods Histopathologic sections from 12 patients with small B-cell lymphoma were reviewed.CD3,CD43,CD20,CD79a,CD5,CD10,CD23,cyclin D1,Bcl-2,Bcl-6,Ki-67,and TdT antibodies were used and the tumors were classified according to new WHO classification.Results All cases had a Bcell immunophenotype,8 cases were extranodal marginal zone lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue(MALT lymphoma),1 case mantle cell lymphoma,1 case follicular lymphoma,and 2 cases diffuse B small cell lymphoma.Conclusions 66.7% of orbital small B-cell lymphoma were MALT lymphoma;analysis of immunohistochemical markers is helpful in confirming the disgnosis of small B-cell lymphoma.
