Abstract
GIS-based highway maintenance management system makes it possible to integrated manage spatial data, attribute data and imagedata about highway facilities. This paper describes the main functions of GIS when used in the field of highway maintenance management, and it discusses the technologies to interlink and dynamically segment spatial data and attribute data held in highway geographic information system. It recommends some helpful solutions, and works out a structured framework, which uses the second development technology of GIS to build highway maintenance management system.
