Abstract

An analytical model for projectile penetration in a semi-infinite reinforced concrete target, which takes into account the dynamic resistance, static resistance as well as the direct resistance due to the impact between steel bar and projectile,is presented in this paper. The model describes the interaction process of projectile with steel bar configuration.Calculation results agree reasonably with the test data. The model was used to analyze the effect of steel bar size, steel bar mesh size and steel bar configuration etc on the penetration depth and the overload effect in penetration process.Computed results indicate that the smaller is the steel bar mesh size, the bigger is the projectile peak value deceleration;along with the increase of steel bar diameter, the action between projectile and steel bar and projectile overload are both obviously enhanced.
