Abstract
Objective: To observe the effect of sulfasalazine combined with Chuanxiong Danshen injection for active ulcerative colitis. Methods: Eighty-six cases of ulcerative colitis patients were randomly divided into the control group and the treatment group with 43 cases in each group. The control group was given the treatment of Sulfasalazine Enteric-coated Tablets, and the treatment group received Chuanxiong Danshen injection based on the treatment for the control group. Both groups were treated for 4 weeks. The clinical curative effect, symptom scores and adverse reaction were observed. Results: After treatment, the total efficiency rate was 74.4% in the control group, and was 95.3% in the treatment group, the difference being significant(P 0.05). The scores of clinical symptoms, such as abdominal pain, diarrhea and blood stool, and tenesmus in the treatment group was less than those in the control group(P 0.05). No serious adverse reaction was found in both groups. Conclusion: Sulfasalazine enteric-coated tablets combined with Chuanxiong Danshen injection can rapidly relieve the clinical symptoms and enhance the clinical effect for active ulcerative colitis, with good safety and obvious clinical significance.
