Abstract

Good faith is the traditional virtue of the Chinese nation. The view and the idea of good faith have a long history and coming in a stream, its reasonable ingredient is regarded as Chinese nation’s valuable moral resources. However, the good faith in the traditional morals has its limitations of history and social class, which has a differentiation with the demands of the modern market economy, mainly shows that: the former is simply the moral category, emphasizes that the moral fist with the characteristics of narrowness and inequality; the later is a legal and moral category, emphasizes that the benefit first with the characteristics of universality and equality. A fully understanding of the, differentiation has a great significance in terms of building up a modern view of good faith which fits for the development of the socialist market economy and harmonious society.
