Application of vacuum sealing drainage technique in orthopedic wound infections

OBJECTIVE To investigate the nursing points of the vacuum sealing drainage(VSD) application in orthopedic complex wound infections.METHODS A total of 48 orthopedic inpatients with complex wound infections were given adjuvant therapy with VSD technique to help the soft tissue defects to repair,and comprehensive care was given during the perioperative period.RESULTS All the artificial skin of the 48 patients who underwent VSD survived,among which 17 cases underwent continuous VSD for 7 days and with skin graft healed;12 cases replaced VSD material after continuous VSD for 7-10 days and healed after skin grafts or secondary suture,without any nursing complications.CONCLUSION As an innovation of surgical drainage technique,VSD can effectively improve the wound healing.The key points for the nursing are to observe the status of VSD,maintain the smooth flow of drainage tube,and enhance the nutrition.
