Abstract

Facial electroneurography(ENoG)of 21 normal persons and 180 patients with facial nerve dis-eases were analyzed. In normal persons, peak amplitude of ENoG is 1.71±0.79 mV,peak latency is 5.29±0.62 ms and bilateral amplitude ratio is 0.82±0.133.In 134 cases of peripheral facial paralysis, the ampli-tude ratio was less then 0.1 in 29.10%and less than 0.3 in 73.13%,In 46 cases of facial hemispasm, theamplitude ratio was less than 0.7 in 71.73%,among them 45.65%were within 0.1 to 0.3 which indicatesthat some of them were originated with light or masked facial paralysis. The results shows that ENoG hadthe function of quantitative analysis, directing treatment and estimate prognosis to the early stage of paralysis of facial nerve.
